General questions
Why should I get tested for an STD?

Three reasons: health, safety and peace of mind. According to the Centers for Disease Control, around 19 million people will become infected with an STD this year. Many of these people won’t even know it unless they experience symptoms. If you have an STD, getting tested can get you quickly connected to treatment and ongoing care, when appropriate. You’ll be taking an important step to protect your sexual health and the health of your partners, too.

Can I get the same STD more than once?

Yes. For example, you can be re–infected with chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis if you have unprotected sex with a partner who has the infection. If you are infected with an STD such as HIV or herpes, typically you will carry the virus for life. However, viral STDs can be managed successfully with ongoing treatment and care.

Do I need a doctor’s order for STD tests?

Yes — and we do this for you! We work in conjunction with Analyte Physicians Group. Our doctors issue the testing order for you – you simply print out the order and take it to the lab. (We work with more than 4,000 labs, so there’s sure to be one near you.)

Is a physical exam required for STD tests?

No. Our tests only require a blood and/or urine sample. You won’t need to undress or deal with any uncomfortable swabbing.

Do I need to fast before taking an STD test?

No. There’s no fasting or special preparation for any of our tests. Just print out your test order and bring it to the lab with you.

What is “APG Services”?

“APG Services” stands for Analyte Physicians Group, the medical practice that designed and operates STD Test Express. This is the name you will see on any emails we send you. This is also the name that will appear on your credit card statement. We do this to help protect your privacy.

What is your cancellation policy?

We offer our patients a full refund within 21 days of placing your order, as long as you have not visited the lab. To cancel an order, please call a Care Advisor at (866) 660-2593 (866) 660-2593 between 6am-10pm CST, 7 days a week.

Where can I go to get tested?

We work with multiple state-of-the-art lab testing groups across the nation to offer patients a fast, affordable, and hassle-free testing experience.

How private is your service?

Privacy is one of our core values and we take it very seriously.

Our communications with you are always discreet. When you receive an email from us, the sender will appear as “APG Services” (which stands for Analyte Physicians Group, the medical practice that designed and operates STD Test Express). This is also the name that will appear on your credit card statement.

We also work with labs that test for a variety of diseases and conditions. That means when you walk into the lab, no one in the waiting room will know why you are there.

Questions about results
When will I get my results?

Your STD test results are available usually in 3 business days or less. Some tests, including the HIV Early Detection test, can take up to five days to process. When your results are ready, you will receive an email from “APG Services ” with directions on signing into your secure account.

If you have tested positive for any STD, a doctor or a member from our clinical team will be available to speak with you by phone within 24 hours. If medically appropriate and allowed by state regulations, the doctor may prescribe medication that can be picked up at your local pharmacy. Depending on your results, the doctor may also refer you for local care. This phone consultation is included in our testing service, at no extra charge.

What do test results look like?

We have designed our test results to be easy to read. However, if you have questions about your results, please call a Care Advisor at (866) 660-2593 (866) 660-2593 between 6am-10pm CST, 7 days a week. They can answer general questions about your results and put you in touch with one of our doctors, when appropriate.

Can I get my test results on my mobile phone?

Yes. Log into your secure account just like you would on a computer, and click the “View Results” link to see your test results.

How quickly can I speak with a doctor or a member of the clinical team?

If your results are positive for any STD, a doctor or a member from our clinical team will be available to speak with you by phone within 24 hours. Call a Care Advisor at (866) 660-2593 (866) 660-2593 between 6am-10pm CST, 7 days a week to schedule an appointment.

What if my results come back positive?

Our team of doctors, clinical team members and Care Advisors are here for you. One of our doctors and clinical team members will be available to explain your results over the phone. They will answer any questions you have and, if medically appropriate, recommend a course of treatment or refer you to a local specialist for care.

Do you take insurance?

Do all testing locations accept insurance?

When selecting a test location, we make it easy to understand which labs accept insurance and which do not. For example, if your location of choice does not accept insurance, insurance will not show up as a payment option 
moving forward in the order process.

Can I pay for testing with My Health Savings or Flex Spending Account (HSA or FSA)?

Yes. We accept payment through Health Savings (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). 
Lab tests, including STD screenings, are approved under these accounts.

For your privacy, all transactions will appear as “APG Services” on your statement.

What is the billing process for your service?

With all test orders, payment procedures can vary for a few reasons, including if you choose to pay entirely out-of-pocket 
or use your insurance to help cover costs. There are certain testing options that require a special billing process.

Billing process when paying with insurance:

The billing process between insurance providers can differ. If you have questions, please see more detailed information about your provider and plan type. All STD orders, regardless of payment method, include additional service fees. These fees are due at the time of placing your order.

Billing process when paying out-of-pocket:

If you are not currently insured, your plan type is not accepted, or you prefer to pay with debit or credit card for your
 STD testing order, the entire amount owed will be due upfront. You will be clearly notified of this amount upon checkout.
 There will be no additional charges following your initial payment.

Please note - if you select a Quest Diagnostics lab location in the state of New York:

When you order your doctor-recommended tests, you will pay the upfront costs that same day. You will be clearly notified of any upfront fee amount upon checkout. To complete the billing process, you will be charged automatically for the remaining balance of your tests when your test order is fully processed by Quest Diagnostics. This will be approximately 30 days following the initial date of your testing.
