The test for hepatitis A is a blood test. The hepatitis A IgM antibody test is used to screen for hepatitis A. There is no need to fast. It’s quick and easy.

What does the test result mean?

A positive result indicates an infection. A negative result means that there is no active infection.

Hepatitis A is very contagious. Symptoms can be confused for other illnesses making it very important to test if you are at risk. Anyone participating in anal-oral sex is advised to test.
