Teens with a Purpose receives support from Virgina news anchors, Al Roker

Virginia-based Teens with a Purpose, and Al Roker, co-host of The Today Show and a board member of the sexual health campaign, will be getting some additional support towards their preventative efforts. Don Roberts, anchor on WAVY-TV, and Nicole Livas, will speak to teens and young adults about being safe and avoiding risky behavior, according to WAVY.com.
Members of the initiative help educate this age group about practicing safe sex, and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), according to the program's website.
The latest event that will be sponsored by Teens with a Purpose, which will be held on October 23, will be hosted by Livas, who is also an anchor on WAVY-TV. Roberts will meet with fathers who attend the event, and discuss the importance of male role models as well as their influence on the life decisions made by their children.
A silent auction will also take place, and free raffle tickets will be distributed at the of the events' doors, according to the Teen with a Purpose website.
Young people who have unprotected sex could be putting themselves and their partners at a higher risk of contracting a STD. Individuals who are concerned about their health, but are uncomfortable with going to an STD clinic, can benefit from purchasing online testing kits.
