JoAnne Keatley honored at HIV/AIDS Diversity Awards event

Kaiser Permanente, a nonprofit organization that provides healthcare, recently recognized JoAnne Keatley at the annual HIV/AIDS Diversity Awards ceremony. Keatley's involvement in Women Organized to Respond to Life-threatening Disease (WORLD) and the Life Foundation, were also highlighted at the event.

Each year, honorees who are acknowledged at this event have contributed to improving preventative campaigns that protects people against contracting this sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Since 2006, Keatley has been a member of the California State Office of AIDS Latino Advisory Board. She is also the project director of Health Studies for People of Color at the San Francisco-based University of California. Furthermore, a Latin transgender woman, Keatley is a public figure among the UCSF community in California as well as those across the country.

Gayle Tang, senior director of national linguistics and diversity infrastructure management at the nonprofit organization, stated that "Ms. Keatley, WORLD and the Life Foundation have had a tremendous impact on their communities and the communities around them." She added that "their work in HIV/AIDS prevention has positively impacted the lives of many and will continue to do so for years to come."
