International condom king visits The Big Apple

In an effort to give a comedic, yet important speech about safe sexual health, Thailand's condom king, Mechai Viravaidya, made a recent trip to New York City.
While several religious groups believe that intercourse is meant to be experienced only after marriage, he stressed how that some groups of monks have began blessing contraceptives with holy water, according to CNNGo.com. Also, during one of the most common daily obstacles faced nationwide, traffic jams, has led to the launching of the Cops and Rubbers Program, in which officers distribute condoms to drivers.
However, he is best known for founding Bangkok-based Cabbages and Condoms restaurant, the news source reports. Opened in 1986, the restaurant has helped support family planning initiatives and raise funds for related programs.
Viravaidya hopes his positive message to people of all ages, especially those who are part of high-risk populations, will lead to international success in preventing of risky sexual behavior and stopping the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
According to the Centers for Disease Control, approximately 19 million new STD infections are diagnosed in the U.S.
