Condomania announces sales on name-brand condoms
Michelle Sobel Sep. 15, 2010
In an effort to continue its support of safe sex practices, Condomania, the first U.S. condom shop, has announced the launching of the Condomania MegaMix, which will include a sale on 48 brand name condoms. Also, with these purchases, consumers will be given a one-year subscription to Playboy or Maxim magazine for free.
Since its launching in 1991, Condomania has been continuously promoting the use of certain contraceptives to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). In an effort to reach a younger audience, products sold at the store feature creative sales pitches to entice teenagers or college students to make purchases.
The MegaMix is "another example of Condomania's youth-friendly packages and medically sound products to ensure young adults have what they need to stay sexually safe and healthy," said Deb Levine, executive director of ISIS.org.
The continued efforts by Condomania and similar companies will help inform teenagers and young adults, who are at a high risk of contracting STDs, about practicing safe sex. Last year, 34 percent of sexually active teenagers did not use a condom, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports. Also, statistics show that every year, approximately 8 million new STDs cases are diagnosed in individuals aged 15 to 24 years.
